Ryan D's medical expenses

Please consider helping our friend, Ryan.  Ryan is a recently married 35 year old struggling with Stage IV Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.  (He is also a former marine, that was severely injured in the line of duty.)  The cancer diagnosis came late. The advanced lymphoma caused him to repeatedly come down with pneumonia, which required multiple hospitalizations.  He was let go after the fourth extended absence.  The loss of employment took away his income, and equally important, his primary insurance.

Ryan recently finished his first 7 months of chemo.  He has had multiple surgeries to remove cancerous lymph nodes, and was just told he has to have another surgery.  In order to begin paying for all this, he and his wife have emptied their savings and Ryan has started emptying his retirement accounts.  His wife, who is a special education teacher, is currently providing the only financial support for the family.

Ryan is one of the nicest people I have ever met.  He is extremely selfless.  He enlisted in the Marine Corps following the events of  9/11.  He was later injured serving our country. Those injuries required four spine surgeries, including two spinal fusions with two rods, eight screws and four fused discs along with mesh and bone harvested from his Iliac crests.  It also dislocated his shoulder and  tore his rotator cuff.  He also needed knee surgery and almost ten feet of veins removed from his left leg, including his Long Saphenous.  He never complains about it but he lives in constant pain from his injuries.

Ryan has been very active in the veteran community. He volunteered to be the local lead for his former company’s internal veterans’ group. Ryan has organized countless Honor Guard flights, coupon drives, coat drives, shoe drives, etc. for homeless and retired service members.

Please consider donating to help Ryan and his wife pay for his still mounting medical bills.  Even if you can only contribute a small amount, it will go a long way towards helping relieve the financial burden his illness has caused and help this former Marine get back on his feet.
