Russell's medical and family fund

For those of you who don't already know me I wanted to start by telling you a little about myself and my family.

My name is Russell and I'm a proud father of 5 wonderful kids,  The two youngest of the five are kids are Stacy (my wonderful partner and the love of my life) and mine together, and the older three come from Stacy's previous marriage.  Noel, is ten she is the oldest, Abigail is eight, and Benjamin is almost six.  Then we have Brooklynn who is a little over two, and baby Russell who is almost 6 months.

These kids and Stacy are my life, I love them with all of my heart, and would do anything for them which is what brought me to this.  I'm a very proud man, but I had to bite the bullet and admit that I can't do this on my own.  So I'm here asking for help and praying that we can get the support we need.

Stacy is a stay at home mom, and I'm the only one who works, so when my accident happened the first thing I did after I got to the hospital and heard the news was panic, then I got angry and scared, and I felt like a failure.  I felt like I had let my family and my children down, but I've had to accept that it wasn't my fault and that asking for help is okay, so here I am with my pride tucked between my legs doing what I need to do to keep myself healthy and my family in-tact.  Thanks in advance for everyone's help in this time of need, it means more to me and my family than anyone could imagine.

And now for the fun part the story and the numbers!

On 12/29/14 I was at home watching the kids.  Earlier this month Stacy had rescued a Chihuahua from getting run over outside of our apartments.  Noel was going to take the dog for a walk outside, and when she went outside she neglected to close the door behind her.  I saw the door was open and after a quick glance in the bedroom I didn't see little Brooklynn and Dad mode kicked in fast.  I bolted for the front door to go retrieve her and as I sprinted through the living room I slipped on the hard wood floors.  My right leg went forward and my left leg buckled.  I hit the floor, hard.  The brunt of the impact was absorbed by my left knee and it snapped my patella bone cleanly into two pieces.

Stacy rushed home, and my brother drove over to help, but I had to call an ambulance to take me to the ER, I was in agonizing pain.  When the radiologist took the X-rays he let out an oohhhh, and I knew right away it was bad.  The Dr came in soon and informed me I would need reconstructive surgery to put my knee back together.

I saw the surgeon this morning, and got all the bad news.  the bright side is one day I should be back to mostly normal, it may never be as good as it was but I should be able to live a normal life and walk without issues, but it's going to be a while.

I'm not going to be able to walk or bend my leg for at least 6 weeks after surgery, and then I'll be in physical therapy for at least a few more weeks before I can return to work.  Hopefully in 3-4months I should be good enough to return to work and be able to provide for my family again.

_____

Between the hospital, the surgeon, and the anesthesiologist, plus the physical therapy this is going to max out my deductible of 5000$, and the 3000$ more out of pocket for the 70/30 split before my insurance finally kicks in to paying 100%

My rent and bills alone come close to 1800$ a month and that’s not even including food.  It will be quite a while before I will be able to return to work and produce this money myself again.

My children need a place to live, and food to eat, I'm having to accept the help anywhere I can get it and anything you can contribute to our family would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you, and God bless.
