Running for CLL Research

I recently moved to Nashville to pursue Teach for America. In search of a grounding force, I did something I never thought I would...I signed up for a half marathon. Those who know me from college know that this time last year I would laugh at the offer to go on a run. But amidst the steep learning (and teaching) curve it's been a blessing to have something to work towards that forces introspection. 

My father paid for my half marathon registration as a holiday gift. He suggested checking the box committing to fundraising $1,500.00 for St. Judes by April 25th- a  noble pledge. Of course the most decent and good human I know sought to gift me the gift of giving back. Andy, the man with a quiet strength and a childish laugh, is living with chronic lymphocytic leukemia. I committed to giving back elsewhere. 

I am giving back to the battle against CLL. I am giving back to love. I am giving back to my Daddy.
