Roundtop Trust
Mission: The Roundtop Trust is a charitable trust, established by a circle of patrons, family and friends of Pennsylvania artist Rob Evans, with the goal of preserving for posterity a collection of Evans' paintings, drawings, prints and archives. Bringing together key works spanning the breadth of the artist’s career, this collection will be used for study, loans to museum exhibitions and to provide insight and education about the themes dealt with in the artist’s work such as sustainability, environmental preservation and the cycles and artifacts of the natural world as metaphors for the human experience.
The funds from this go-fund-me campaign will be used specifically for the acquisition of 5 initial works for the trust collection. These works come from a private collection up for sale by the heirs of one of Evans' long time patrons (includes Evans' large 1993 triptych "Moth") as well as from Evans' personal archives, including his monumental 7 foot wide altarpiece "Origins," which would serve as a dramatic centerpiece for the Roundtop Trust collection (see accompanying image). A year in the making, this ambitious triptych was originally a part of the traveling exhibition "The Object Project" which toured to 5 museums across the nation.
The purchase price for these first 5 works totals $75,000. So far, through the generosity of the initial donors, nearly half that amount has been raised. This go-fund-me campaign hopes to raise the additional $40,000 in funds needed to complete these purchases. Any funds raised beyond this amount will go toward future purchases and long term curatorial care and storage of the collection.
