Rosie's Hips

Donation protected
Meet rosie. She is my 1 year old Golden Retriever. She's the sweetest pup I've ever met, but things have kind of turned upside down for us.

Just towards the end of January she was diagnosed with stage four hip dysplasia on both sides. Hip dysplasia is an abnormal formation of the hip socket that causes lameness of the legs because of the pain from the hips. It will turn into early severe artharitis because of the abnormal grinding between the joint and socket. In Rosie's case more specifically, her hip socket doesn't cover enough range with the joint, so the joint will actually pop with every step she takes. She seems to ignore the pain for most of the day, but by the end of the day (sometimes sooner) she is restless bothered by pain and uncomfort.

Because Rosie's case is so severe, it requires a double hip replacement. The surgeon has estimated $5,000 per hip, one hip at a time. We will be doing her right hip first because that side gives her much more pain.

Our vet has been working with us to manage her pain with meds and glucosamine supplements, alongside limited activity.

She seemed just fine 4 months ago. We would have never guessed anything was wrong, until she had hurt what seemed to be her leg outside playing with Lola. We monitored her and it soon went away. This happened a couple more times. We started to notice limping towards the end of long walks, then we noticed the signs of HD. We took her to the vet immediately and ordered X-rays.
Artheritis has now set in and the grinding and popping will not stop. As much as I don't want to, I ask for your help to finance this surgery as we plan to have her first hip done early/mid spring.

I hope to raise enough money by March to get her back to the pain-free happy life she once had. As time goes on, the worse she gets.

Please know that just $5, or even $1, adds add. For those who cannot donate at this time, or for any of you animal lovers in general, please share this on Facebook, Instagram, email, Twitter, or anything else. Please click the share button at the top of the page or follow this facebook link:
