Helping a Homeless Veteran

My daughter has befriended a man that has been sleeping behind the dumpster where she works. She had been talking to him on her breaks for awhile and he is a very nice man and so appreciative for any and everything. Her and her boyfriend took him to eat the first evening and we have gotten him a room for a few nights and bought him food clothes shoes, friends have given clothes and shoes for him. We are working on getting him a place to live but we are running out of money and are worried he will lose the room before we can get things setup. He is a Veteran that has had a traumatic brain injury (not service connected) and this has caused a little dementia. He can care for his self but forgets and loses things (id, paperwork etc.) We have gotten copies of his paper work and medicaid information but the case worker that was helping him told us he is not eligible for VA benefits due to time served.
He has a honorable discharge though. We are just look to help him have a room until we can get him a place that is safe.
