Ronnie Slater's Return Home

Donation protected
Ronald "Ronnie" Slater was born on 3/26/92 with severe down's syndrome. He lived his 25 years on earth with the mental age of a toddler. As everyone who knew him can tell you, this did little to slow him down. He lived and loved to the fullest, and was as pure of heart and mind as you and I can only hope to be in this life. Throughout his wonderful life, he unfortunately continually fought through various severe health issues. And though he surpassed the doctor's expectations by many many years, Ronnie passed away in the early morning hours of Tuesday, July 18, 2017. He was surrounded by those he loved and whom loved him, and he passed into the arms of God pain-free and in peace.

Ronnie's mother, Diane, has been his caretaker since day one. The mother of 14, she has been through more than most. Her late husband, Ronald Slater Sr., passed away in 2005. Since then, her primary source of income has been Ronnie, whom the state pays Diane to take care of around the clock instead of having him committed to a facility.

Diane has been blessed by the country we live in to not have any medical bills from Ronnie's extensive treatments, but unfortunately, there is no coverage for funeral costs. This is where I ask for help in the coming hours and days of the Slater family's life.

If you know Diane or any of her children, you know what an absolutely profound impact she has made on the community. She has gifted the world with her many children and continues to bless those around her with her grace and charm.

Please, if she or any of her family has made an impact on your life, I ask you to give a little back in this time of need. This was an incredibly sudden event, and financial stress is the last thing I want Diane to worry about as she mourns the loss of her beautiful son. If you cannot find it possible to give, please pray for the Slater family as some of the light in their lives moves to his new home in heaven.
