Help Ronnie Make Cancer History

As many of you know, Ronnie McDaniel is Lonnie McDaniel’s brother and identical twin.   Ronnie and Lonnie were raised in Clemmons and experienced the sudden death of their father at the young age of 15.  Since their father’s death, both Ronnie and Lonnie have had to work hard to support themselves and their families, and have continued to work to this day at the age of 73, at a local car dealership.

 
Rarely ever sick, Ronnie started losing weight and had a persistent cough beginning 3 months ago. After changes in medication and various other tests, the Doctor’s decided to do blood work and found elevated cell levels in Ronnie's liver. After having a CT scan, results found a 5 ½ inch mass on Ronnie’s liver.  After undergoing a biopsy and PET scan, it was confirmed that Ronnie had Stage 4B liver cancer, Hepatocellular Carcinoma (which is very rare,) that had spread to his lungs.  The Doctor’s gave Ronnie a 4-month life expectancy without treatment.  They provided an option for chemotherapy, with the hopes that it would extend his life for an additional couple of months.   

Ronnie is determined to take the chemotherapy, but it costs $3000 per month for the medicine after Medicare pays their portion. 

With the diagnosis received, and the time that is predicted for him to have left, every single day counts. We are asking for any assistance to help with his drug costs.  Nexavar is the latest medicine to help treat Ronnie’s cancer, but it is extremely expensive and no financial support is provided from the drug company. Ronnie has had to step down from his job as he has been too weak, and continuously coughing, that he no longer can perform his job functions.


We would be so thankful for any assistance provided to help defray some of the cost of his medicine.  Every dollar donated will go to support his prescription costs, and hopefully allow him a few more months with his loved ones.
