Romina Adduci's Legacy

My sister Romina's dream had always been to provide the best life she could for her beloved children Facundo and Juan Ignacio. My goal is to continue her legacy and through this fund be able to provide the boys what my sister always worked so hard to provide to them.
Romina was a loving mom who was energetic, adventurous, crazy-smart, wicked-funny, driven, creative and determined. In addition to being a mother she was also a beloved daughter, a sister, a godmother, an "auntie," a cousin, a colleague, a leader and a friend. She was born and raised in Buenos Aires and later moved to San Isidro, a suburb north of the city, to start a family and raise her kids.
Last May, she was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer and over went several rounds of chemo and radiation treatments that were recommended by doctors to be able to give her an extended life. Unfortunately, Romina departed from this world this past May 17 at 39 years young, leaving her two boys at the sole care of their dad Tomás, who she had shared custody with. Romina's income had always been the primary source of provision for the boy's needs, but regrettably, Argentina's current economy with high inflation, heavily devaluated peso and the government's strict policies on having savings in foreign currency will hinder the possibility to give the boys the security Romina once worked so hard to provide.
The idea of starting this fundraising abroad materialized after receiving many inquiries from many friends, colleagues, co-workers, clients and other comunity members who wanted to make a contribution to the future of the boys, such as Romina always dreamed of giving them. She was the type of person that even if you had just met her once, you would still remember her for a lifetime.
Facundo is a very caring, smart and funny 10-year-old who is half way through 5th grade. He loves computers and anything videogame and technology related. As the older brother, he has an overprotective nature but also an inclination to be quite independent. His favorite subjects are Math and Science. He's a green belt at TaeKwonDo, enjoys playing basketball, soccer, fishing and although he won't admit it, he also has a knack for music, theater and drama. His mom used to call him my "Little Prince" (in Spanish "Principito") as an allegory of the Antoine de Saint-Exupéry novel.
Juan Ignacio is 8 years old and is in 1st grade. Juani is a special little boy with an incredible imagination, unusual sense of humor and an unlimited capacity to love. From a very early age Juani faced many challenges that required endless visits to doctors, physical and occupational therapists and children development specialists. His mom had always been his #1 advocate to provide him with the best medical care he needed to help him excel and be the best he could be. Many of the things Juani enjoys are baking, telling and listening to stories, dressing up in superhero costumes and riding horses, which is also a crucial part of one of his therapies. His mom used to call him Mr Sunshine or Shiny Smile ("Mi Sol" or "Sonrisa Luminosa"), and she would tell him that he could light up a room everywhere he went with just his smile.
I am immensely grateful to see my nephews, Facundo and Juani surrounded by a very loving and supportive family with their dad, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and an extended network of friends, teachers, care givers, educators and therapists that have been nothing but supportive. For the boys, grieving the loss of their mom has been very rough at times and a bit less rough other times but they are doing the best they can. I know together we can carry on Romina's legacy by ensuring they will have what she always dreamed for them. If you knew her, you know what these boys meant to her.
