Rollin' for Roland

Roland is one of the nicest, kindest people you could ever meet. Up until last year he led an active life, enjoying work at school and participating in many activities such as paddleboarding and tennis.
Roland had a major stroke in December of last year. He has come a long way with his recovery, but still has a long way to go before he can achieve his goal of being able to stand up and walk again.
He is currently in a nursing home, and as you can imagine (especially if you know Roland!) is quite bored much of the time. While he wishes he could be more active, he is still confined to a wheelchair. Getting a pedal wheelchair will help him get some physical activity and excersize, as well as gain a bit of independence by being able to easily propel himself in his chair.

Along with the activity and excersize potential, the pedal chair will (according to many case studies) assist in the rehabilitation of the rest of his body. In a nutshell, by using his good leg to pedal the chair, the other leg will also begin to pedal and his brain and body will condition the "bad" leg muscles and nerves to a point where they may be fully functional again.

Unfortunately, the chair is classified as a non-essential rehabilitation device, and is not covered under any insurance or government program.
The pedal chair will change Roland's life for the better. The sooner he has the chair, the sooner he can continue with his rehabilitation and hopefully get home that much quicker. Any funds contributed will be greatly appreciated and used to purchase the pedal wheelchair. The cost of the chair is $3500.
