In 2003, my parents bought what they thought to be their dream home. It wasn’t the biggest or the most expensive, but to us —it was a huge upgrade from our previous situation—it was perfect. My parents have worked their entire lives to provide for their six children. They gave us a roof over our head and everything in it. They made our house a home.
Unfortunately, our perfect home is no more. It was more than halfway submerged underwater due to the catastrophic flooding from Hurricane Harvey. We had to leave our belongings to make our way to safety as water began to flow into our house. After 5 days, the water subsided and we were able to see the shape of our home. It was hardly recognizable. All our furniture is lost, walls and floors are damaged, and most of our material things are gone, as well. This has been a surreal experience for myself and my family.
As a UT Graduate and big brother to four younger siblings, I plan to do my part to help out my family. My dad is as blue collared as it gets, and he takes pride in working for and earning everything he has. Now my parents WOULD NEVER agree to this plea. But for once, it's time I try and do something more for our family as a whole. This is why I've started this page to ask for anyone and everyone's help! When I say anything helps, I truly mean it. From $1 to $20, absolutely any contribution made is greatly appreciated!
I can never thank everyone enough for their support and offering their assistance, but I hope everyone knows how genuinely appreciative I am. I'm not asking you all to help us get a new home, but I am asking y'all to help us return to our old home, to our old lives, and to a normal life.

I'm Juan Rodriguez Jr from Houston, Texas. The funds being raised will go straight to my family (My parents) to help repair and rebuild our home after the damages we've suffered. To be specific, the walls (sheetrock), floors, and roof to make it safe for us to return home. From there we will build the rest of our home back up.
