Hello darlings! I've won a place on the Masters Acting program at Andrew Lloyd Webber's Arts Educational Schools!
And you can help me do it. With the finish line visible, if I can raise the final amount I'll have enough funding to do the course. Please become the patron of an actor, you'll be like a classy 17th century noble.
This course is magical: Based on the Meisner technique, it trains actors to react to stimuli as a lived character rather than by accessing the actor's emotions. It's the best way to train if you have ADHD and Asperger's out the wazoo, which is why I'm super excited to have a chance to rock it. Despite not having an undergraduate degree, I've been accepted onto the MA program due to my "aptitude and enthusiasm", making me one of only a few dozen people chosen from the thousand who apply each year.
Did I mention that once I graduate, I'll use what I've learned in developing training to help other people with ADHD? This is a Good Cause that'll keep giving. So why don't you? ;)

If you have ADHD then what's with all the text?
I care so much about the course that prose are flowing like laser wine. This is called "hyper-focus" and it's the flip-side of ADHD's famous flights of fancy. It's also the reason I'll be able to concentrate fully on rocking the course and get huge amounts out of the experience.

Why now?
For three years in a row I've been accepted to great acting schools like RADA and Guildhall, but this course has always been the most exciting. This is the first year I've come close to being able to afford the course! That's where you come in. If I can raise an additional £3,000 I'll have the wherewithal to study.

What presumption! But just for you, here I am being old and grizzled beyond my years:

Wow, voice acting pays really well.
If only! That bit is like a museum's "suggested donations" sign. On average I've earned £7 per job (and yes, those forty-two pounds are going toward this adventure :p).
What public funding is available?
Not much! Since it's postgrad there's no grant or loan to cover the cost. I've applied for a Career Development Loan which tops out at 10k. A few charities who like what I'm doing with regard to outreach for others with ADHD and Asperger's are also donating, hence the goalposts actually being in reach this time :)
Basically, living in London is stonkingly expensive. The course costs 14 grand, and the price of surviving in London is going to double that. Any dosh you can spare could literally make the difference to me rocking Arts Ed.
Why this school and course?
Arts Ed is an exceptional school: Currently presided over by The Lord Lloyd Webber, it has moulded the talents of Martin Clunes, Julie Andrews and Catherine Zeta-Jones to name a few. It is ripe for rocking.
The MA Acting course is a new one with an attached professional theatre troupe, and it uses the Meisner technique as the foundation for all its training. Meisner can be summed up as "living truthfully under imaginary circumstances"; it reflects many of the ways I've learnt to rock with Asperger's Syndrome and function socially with ADHD, as well as the approaches I have found useful in acting. The experience gained in systematising these experiences could be priceless to me, and potentially for the others I could share it with.
Why can't you get yourself a part-time job like other students?
Most University courses have a maximum of 20 hours of classes per week and students often gain part-time work during their study. Vocational actor training is different: As well as having up to 50 hours of training per week, spare time is expected to be used for preparation and learning lines. For this reason students are strongly discouraged from working during their course. Setting aside extra time for DSA-funded help, I'll have virtually no time left for rocking a job whilst rocking Arts Ed.
Why fund an actor when there are so many already?
Fresh talent comes from all walks of life, but without funding only the very well off could afford to attend drama school and start a career in film and theatre. Helping an actor pay for drama school means you are ensuring actors come from all walks of life and succeed based purely on skill and talent and being really really really ridiculously good looking.
You'll also be funding the training of someone with a passion for helping people with ADHD and Asperger's overcome their disabilities.
