My younger sister Nicole and her husband Evan have been married for about a year now and just bought their first home together.The young military couple, 21 years old, moved from MA to CA, so Evan could follow his dreams as a marine. They have been living in San Diego and building a family, of animals that is. They have three fur babies, a cat named Albert, aka "kitten" a big goofy 1 year old German Shepard, Kal. And a boxer named Rocco. Rocco was the first to join the Lomba family. Nicole and Evan have had Rocco since he was 8 weeks old. He is my sisters "baby."
Nicole has a heart of gold, and is the most affectionate, caring person I know. You could ask any one that knows Nicole and they would say the same thing. So when she received the news that her baby escaped out of her garage and was hit by a car she was heart broken.
Nicole and Evan have only been living in their new home for a day when the accident happened. Nicole and Evan left the house to run errands, they put Rocco and Kal in the garage thinking they would be safe and secure. When they returned home, the garage door was somehow open.Kal was home, but Rocco was missing. The neighbors had told Nicole and Evan that they saw Rocco run across a very busy street and get hit by a car. Rocco ran off, and so did the driver.
Nicole and Evan spent hours searching for Rocco. Since they had just moved, they were unsure Rocco would fing his way home. Nicole and Evan were starting to think they were never going to see their boxer again.
However, The lomba's prayers were answered, when Nicole found Rocco resting in a ditch in someone's backyard. When she called Rocco's name he came right to her, limping and wagging his little tail. Rocco was covered in blood and it was obvious that his leg was broken. At the Animal ER the vet confirmed that Rocco's leg is shattered, and that he is going to need a $5,000 dollar surgery to fix it.
