Robyn's Endo Surgery

Donation protected
Hey y'all,

If you know me at all, I'm sure you've heard me talk about my health issues to some extent or another. Well, I've finally found myself on a path of proper diagnosis and treatment. I have something called Endometriosis, which is a disease in which endometrial-like tissue grows OUTSIDE of the uterus and adheres to other organs causing numerous symptoms and potential health complications. And I'm excited to be having Laparoscopic Excision Surgery to remove it on December 17th of this year.

The surgery is with a specialist at the Center For Endometriosis Care in Atlanta. It is out-of-network, and therefore more than I can afford on my own. In total, the surgery will be somewhere between 7,500 and 17,500. I am trying to raise 5,000 right now to go towards the down-payment of 7,500, but I might raise my goal later when I get the final bill from the clinic.

My symptoms started with my first period, but over the last twenty years they have multiplied and transformed. Endometriosis has impacted my mental, physical, sexual, and reproductive health in more ways than I think I could even identify. Until I knew what Endometriosis was, I had been given a slew of various diagnoses from over a dozen different doctors - fibromyalgia, depression, narcolepsy, and my favorite - "bad periods". I have even been told by a doctor "Maybe this is just the way god made you" in response to my symptoms. I've tried various different treatments and even had two surgeries aimed at fixing my "bad periods".

However, my current doctors and I feel confident that Endo is the cause of a lot of my health issues. And I'm very hopeful that with the removal of the disease from my body, that I will have more energy, less depression, less painful menstruation, less painful sex, less inflammation and pain in my body, better sleep, better body image, and better fertility odds should I ever decide to pursue that.

If you can, please help me pay for my surgery by making a financial contribution that feels good to you. No amount is too small or taken for granted!

And if you want to make an even bigger impact, please learn about Endometriosis and talk to people about it. One in ten women have it (that's 5% of the entire human population!), yet it takes on average ten years to diagnose. And I know first-hand the turmoil that that 5% goes through to be heard and healed. I've linked two of my favorite videos about Endo below for you to learn more. I also own a copy of "Endo What?" the documentary if you're local to me and want to watch it.

Thank you for reading this and for whatever you have to give. It is so appreciated.

Love,
Robyn
