Braces + Orthotics to Africa

My name is Brian Kracyla and I am a physical therapist practicing in Philadelphia.  One of my lovely patients (Hi, Zoe!) asked one day how she could donate her walking boot when she was done with it.  After surveying others, it was apparent that so many people have used braces, boots, soft-casts, crutches, etc. just sitting around their house (you’re probably one of them!).  It then became quickly evident that there is no true or easy way to find a new home for these type of used medical items.  

The purpose of this GoFundMe is to raise funds to start a non-profit organization to redistribute braces, orthotics, etc. to underpriviledged people in parts of the world with inadequate access to such equipment.  The perspective starting place is Tanzania; via an established relationship with a local surgeon who selflessly dedicates his time to helping the people there (see Global Orthopaedics).  Ultimately I’d like to expand this NPO’s outreach.  Tentatively the NPO is titled World ROBO (ROBO= redistribution of bracing and orthotics).  I have already reserved the site name www.worldrobo.org. 

Donated funds will immediately go to storage costs, branding, marketing, shipping, website, NPO filing costs, legal counsel,  logistical stuff I haven’t even thought of or encountered yet, and location outreach and research. I will be fully transparent with the use of all funds collected, just as I would be required with the NPO.

*Right now all donations are NOT tax deductible ... but we’ll get there.
