Robert's Leukemia did not win!!!!!

Donation protected
Robert is a little over one year out from the time he was diagnosed with Acute T Cell Lymphoblastic Leukemia.
He is home with us again in Sonoma County getting stronger each day.  His oncologist at Stanford has pronounced his "a miracle." He recently told me that he would be interested in being a patient advocate for others who turn into "patients" from being just regular people who happen to be very ill and are trying to navigate the strange waters of our modern health care system.

Backround for newcomers:

For over a decade, Rob walked at least 10miles a day and rode his bike, worked out a gym and seemed the pinnacle of health. Then on November 21, 2013, he was diagnosed with Acute T Cell Lymphoblastic Leukemia.

Robert is a 46 year old, dear, gentle, and thoughtful friend to many in Sonoma County. He has been a US postal mail carrier in the cherry street and Jc neighborhoods of Santa Rosa for more than 10 years.  He has a keen interest in local and world history. Robert loves animals, birds, the natural world and he is carried close in the hearts of his friends.

In his journey with cancer, Rob has learned who his friends are:  he has gathered together the loving people in his life and introduced his many and varied friends to each other! He has learned to be an unflinching self advocate in his health care decisions and he has made a lasting network that he can call upon all his long life!

*During the year of after diagnosis, Robert  had more rounds of chemotherapy than I can count with some pretty severe infections, multiple transfusions, biopsies, radiation, the ordeal of Bone Marrow biopsy and Stanford hospital and the months of recovery and observation living near the hospital. With his dear friend and advocate, Barbara he had to visit with blood draws, hospitalizations for infections. His year involved countless conversations with various doctors in two different enormous medical centers: Kaiser and Stanford. He had to be a tireless advocate for his health even when his body was racked with fatigue and other side effects. Through his ordeals with severe symptoms from his chemo and antibiotics, he has admitted his feelings honestly and described his experiences to his friends in matter of fact terms.

He proved a worthy adversary and spiritual warrior: strong and willing, alert and flexible as he navigated this difficult landscape of the medical system.  He is an example of hope and steadfastness for us all to learn from.

Thanks to all his supporters on his team and from this website for helping him with positive energy from tangible to intangible.  It all helped to boost his amazing reserve of vital life force that is responsible for his ongoing healing.
