Nurse mare foal donations

Donation protected
All of the money is going towards expenses,  and anything that we need for the foals. We don't just rescue nurse mare foals. We rescue any horses that need rescuing! Nursing mare foal:A nurse mare foal is a foal who was born so that its mother might come into milk. The milk that she (the nurse mare) is producing is then used to nourish a foal of another mare, a "more expensive" foal. Primarily the "expensive foals" are Thoroughbred foals, though the nurse mares are certainly not limited to the Thoroughbred industry. A Thoroughbred mare's purpose is to produce a racehorse every year. A mare can give birth to one foal each year provided that is the rebred immediately after having her foal. Because the Jockey Club requires that the mares to be bred only by live cover, and not artificially inseminated, the mare must travel to the stallion for -breeding and may be shipped as soon as days after giving birth to her last foal. Travel is risky for the newborns, and insurance policy prohibits the foal form accompanying its mother to the stallion's farm. At this point, a nurse mare is hired to raise the Thoroughbred foal. In the order to have milk, the nurse mare must have delivered a foal. When the nurse mare is sent to raise the Thoroughbred foal, her own foal is left behind. Historically, these foals were simply killed because it is so difficult to raise them, especially in large numbers. Recently, they have gainer value:..their hide are used in the fashion and textile industries as "pony skin" and their meat is considered a delicacy in some foreign markets. It costs about 300-500$ a day. This does not include picking up foals from Ohio where I get my foals from a rescue. They rescue about 400 foals each year, I am bring nurse mare foals into NJ as a help to the rescue. I will get them trusting people again. I am doing this so the rescue I work with can get more in. They rescue all year round! I would like to bring in around 50 foals in 2014, maybe more maybe less. I need the donations to do that though. I cannot stress enough that the role that you play is vital to sparing these tiny lives. WE will do the work. We only need the materials to do it with!
