Rise Haiti

Donation protected
We need to raise 5,000 CHF more to build THREE CLASSROOMS and accommodate as many as possible of the 300 children who currently cannot go to school in Bedou, Haiti. 100% of the donations we receive go directly to the construction, which has already started in December. We have collected over 19,000 CHF since September 2019 and need to reach a minimum taget of 23,000 CHF. Education should be available for everyone :) Project Overview  Rise Haiti is organized by a team of eight master students from the University of St. Gallen, who want to improve the living and learning environment of children in a poor Haitian community. Until mid 2020, we want to build new classrooms for the school in Bedou, so that more children can enjoy a good education and help build a striving happy community. In order to do so, we need your help! People often hesitate to donate money because they do not know how the money will be used in the end. This is not the case for Rise Haiti: Our team will travel to Haiti in February 2020 and ensure transparently that every dollar, euro, or Swiss franc you give is used only in the best interest of the children. The following paragraphs give you a better idea of what we do. Feel free to contact us for any questions under rise-[email redacted]. Please give as much as you would like and share the project with your friends and family. Photo: Bedou, February 2018: "L'éducation est une affaire de coeur." (education is a matter of heart) - taken by Rise Haiti Who are we?  Rise Haiti is a diverse team of eight Master students from the University of St. Gallen – Andreas, Flavia, Francisco, Louise, Lynn, Rujuta, Sonja and Tim. We come from all around the world - Switzerland, Costa Rica, Germany, Vietnam, India, and France - and all enjoy the privilege of receiving a good education. We have come together to work towards our common vision: better education and living standards for the people of Haiti. What is our purpose?  We want to improve the living and learning environment of children in the Haitian community of Bedou. We work together with our local partner NGO Foie et Joie Haiti which advocates for public education and social equality. Supporting children is important as a good education is crucial for them to be able to improve their livelihoods and contribute to the advancement of Haiti as a whole where the majority of the population lives in severe poverty.   What have we achieved so far?  Since 2012, our predecessors have put in significant time and effort to improve the quality of our partner schools and enable more children to get access to education. This includes the building of a fully equipped kitchen, sanitary facilities, playgrounds and basketball fields, and the provision of laptops. On our Facebook page you can see photos and videos of these projects. What is this year’s plan?  This year we will once again be working with the local partner school St. Ignace de Loyola in Bedou, where we will build new classrooms for the school. This will enable more children to enjoy a good education and help build a thriving happy community.   How are we going to achieve this?  We are trying to raise 5,000 CHF with our GoFundMe campaign and, on top of that, we organize multiple bake sales, events, and other activities, to raise as much money as possible. We put all our energy into this project and, if we succeed, we might even be able to fulfill other needs of the school in Bedou. As mentioned above, we know that transparency is crucial; therefore, we are going to Haiti ourselves in February 2020. We are covering our expenses ourselves and with the help of the University of St. Gallen. Before, during, and after our time in Haiti, we will document and share all our activities, struggles, successes, photos, and videos with you. You can read along on our various social media channels and in our e-mail updates. How can you support us?   In order to carry out the project, we need your help. We highly appreciate every dollar, euro or Swiss franc you contribute to our project. However, we don’t just need money. If you do not have the financial means, we kindly ask you to share our GoFundme page on your Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter. You can also give us a like on Facebook, share our page with your friends and family, and follow us on Instagram, where we will give you regular updates on the project. The more people we reach with this campaign, the more successful we can be in improving the lives of the children in Bedou. Thank you for being a part of this project!
