Rise for Ryder and River

Donation protected
On December 18, 2018 while visiting the doctor to learn the sex of the twins , the technician noticed an abnormality on Baby A (Ryder). This is when  their world was turned upside down.

After days and weeks of follow ups with  many different specialists, in Sacramento and San Francisco.  Mia and Adriana got on a plane and flew from California to Philadelphia and packed for a 2 day trip to visit the best of the best for Ryder’s condition.

On this trip they got the final diagnosis for  Ryder and he has what is called OEIS Syndrome which is a rare birth defect that happens in 1 out of 400,000 children. They also found  out  River has a Vascular Ring with a right aortic arch. Before heading home from this visit  the diagnosis was quickly overshadowed when Adriana went into preterm labor at just 23 weeks and they were told neither child would survive if she delivered so early . The Doctors strongly advised Mia and Adriana not to get on the plane back to Sacramento so they made the only decision that they could , which was to stay in Philadelphia and do what ever they had to to keep the babies safe inside Adriana’s belly and  to give both children the best doctors they could ask for. After 10 weeks on bedrest in the Ronald McDonald house of Southern New Jersey both children made their appearance on March 27, 2018.
7 weeks early.

It has  been over 6 months since they have been in Philadelphia living at the Ronald McDonald house while both kids have been fighting for their lives. Meanwhile they originally packed for 2 days and have had to have mail sent, clothes sent, bills sent and have had to put their two dogs in a board and train facility and of course still continue to pay all their normal bills.

On a positive note-After 60 long days here River finally made it out of the Nicu but Ryder is still recovering from his first surgery he had just a week after he was born. Because of his complex intestinal and bladder issues he will continue to stay in the hospital until the doctors figure out  a plan to help him gain weight and absorb nutrients as well as undergo two more surgeries. After his first set of surgeries he will get a 9 month break to come home and recover before undergoing his next set of surgeries where they will continue to be out of work.

Not only will they have to be in Philadelphia most of this year and next unable to work  Ryder will  require significant help from medical devices, and supplies as well as special formula and  many supplements. Not to mention  countless medical checkups and  follow ups after surgeries between San Francisco and Philadelphia leaving a stack of medical bills along the way .

This would put a strain on anyone, anywhere, but everyone would pay it in a heartbeat to save their babies.

Every dollar helps to ease the financial burden.

Join us and “Rise for Ryder” and help Mia  & Adriana focus less on their wallets and more on their precious Children.
