A leg up to my dream: Loch Moy

Purpose: I am excited about qualifying for and competing in the 2018 Loch Moy Beginner Novice Classic 3 day held in Adamstown Maryland on October12th,13th and 14th You helped me realize my dream. Consider riding along with us on sporting journey as we condition, train and jump our way through the season.
The event: Thrills, spills, and speed. Eventing is a test of a horse’s endurance, speed, agility, and finesse. Born out of the military cavalry tradition, the modern event has been dwindling in scope, as the large tracts of land needed to build courses are becoming scarcer. While modern eventing continues to feature three phases(Dressage, Cross-country, and Stadium Jumping) the Classic Three Day event highlights endurance by reintroducing the traditional phases of steeplechase and roads and tracks. Eventing is an Olympic sport and fortunately it builds confidence in horses and riders from the ground up. The lower levels - Beginner Novice, Novice and Training levels are where amateurs, like me, can experience eventing safely and progressively. This is where I strive to be competitive, and how I support the sport I love. I have heard, we are the "lifeblood" of the sport!
Meet your team: I am competing with Rigby, an 11-year -old draft cross I have trained since he was a young horse. At first Rigby was hesitant about my career choice for him. I have patiently prepared him for all aspects of riding— he now attacks the courses with the energy and confidence. It is an exhilarating feeling to have such a great partner.
In 2016, his first year of sanctioned events, Rigby and I placed 3rd in the Beginner Novice year-end awards for the entire Northeast. In 2017 at Novice, the next step up, we have consistently placed in the top 10. The Classic 3-day Event is the logical path for us to take.
Our coaches say, "Yes, go for it!"
Why a Three Day in 2018:
On a sport achievment level, this event includes two extra phases of competition, the endurance and steeplechase. Dedication, preparation and training are critical. I am ready for this challenge.
On a personal achievement level, I have been longing to compete in this format since I was 12 years old when I was helping more accomplished friends achieve their goals. Their great rides are forever in my memory and heart!
On a horsemanship level, I have been saying all along, " I want to do this! Rigby and I are in the best place possible in our training to make this goal a reality.
How You Can Help? We need a leg up financially to get to the Loch Moy Classic Three Day Event.
The approximate cost for this event alone is $1500.00. This includes entry fees, cross country schooling, coaching, and travel.
Everything we can personally afford will go into the preparation and qualifying events to get us to Waredaca 3-Day.
What can I give back? All proceeds exceeding the $1,500 will go towards the EquiCenter, a wonderfully exciting therapeutic riding center in Honeoye Falls, NY. http://www.equicenterny.org

I love helping horse people of all ages and abilities in my horse community. From sharing tips about learning to gallop or preparring to ride a first event. I am always in the cheering section and ready to give a hand to others where it's needed.
I am excited about hosting a fun day of riding on our farm this year. I enjoy teaching groundwork exercises that help develop communication between horse and/or donkey and rider. Imagine the fun we could have.
