Rick Wekseth's Fund to Kick Cancer!

Donation protected
In December 2015,  Rick was diagnosed with throat cancer (squamous cell carcinoma) and started chemotherapy and radiation in January 2016.  Although the doctors said the outcome of a successful recovery is higher, it's also probably the worst and most painful treatment because of the radiation on the throat.  Anyone who has fought or is fighting cancer knows that no matter what type it is, it's a long, torturous road - mentally, physically, emotionally, and monetarily.

The good news is that Rick has been a trooper and made it through the 7 weeks of radiation and 3 bouts of chemo!!  He's still recovering but we're all so thankful for the outpouring of support everyone has shown. The "Wekstrong" t-shirts and kind words from so many people near and far means so much to not only Rick, but anyone this diagnosis has affected. It's such a blessing to have this much support and love!

In June (date is TBD),  Rick will go back to have a scan to see if the cancer was fully removed.  Let's keep the support going and pray for a full recovery that he's kicked cancer's butt!

We're asking for support to help Rick and Susan pay for medical bills and for the 6 months (or more) of time Rick needs to take away from his job.  He is truly one of a kind and we want to help him any way we can.   Any contribution whether large or small would be tremendously helpful and very much appreciated.

Here are a few thoughts we'd each like to share:

From Krissy:
Rick is important to me because from day one, he never treated me any differently then he would his own flesh and blood.  That man loves my kids as if they were his own grandchildren (which they are…. just not by blood) and he’s been like that from the get go.   Rick has consistently stepped up to the plate as a second father just always being there for me, whether it be a listening ear, watching my kids or helping me move houses..or even furniture! He never bats an eye when asked to help out.  I also have never met a more accepting family (I’m talking about the Wekseth's). It doesn’t matter who you are, that family loves you no matter what and I wouldn’t trade any of them for anything. I’m very grateful for my bonus family.

From Amber:
Why my Dad means so much to me? WELL, you know me, I could write a novel, but to sum it up I would say this: He is a gentle soul that truly cares about other people. He will never be the loudest or most opinionated person in a room, but you can bet he’d be the person that would sit there and listen to every word you had to say until you were done. He is genuine and truly cares about other people and their well-being. Through this whole experience I have heard nothing but what a positive role he has had in so many individuals’ lives, it’s been truly humbling. He is such a playful role-model for my boys and to see him smile when he is talking to any one of our family member brings a tear to my face. He is truly a great man and hopefully we can look back in a few months and say that was a crappy hand he was dealt and he got kicked while he was down a few times, but he’s here to say "I fought cancer and I won, darn it!"

From Suzanne:
I couldn't have asked for a better Step-Daddy! I was 16 years old when he and my mom started dating and he immediately treated me like his own daughter and welcomed our family into his.  And it was easy to love him back! Krissy and Amber both nailed it on the head perfectly and I couldn't say it better - he is truly one of a kind and is loved very, very much!

Thank you for your support and love!
