It's hard to accept something that you cannot control. On February 20, I found out that my kidneys were shutting down. I was taken to Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith, Arkansas, where I discovered that I had only 5% kidney function. This led to more tests being run. The results were that I had prostate cancer, which was spreading to my bones and liver. The doctors told me it was stage 4 aggressive. I stayed in the hospital a few more days and was told I was going to have to start chemotherapy treatment.

When I received this diagnosis, I was devastated. Other emotions soon followed...confusion, fear of what was to come, helplessness and hopelessness! Since my diagnosis, I have struggled to come to grips with this new reality. It hasn't been easy.

One of the first things I have to deal with is the fact that I live 60 miles away from Mercy Hospital - that's 120 miles round trip three times a week! I need to move to Fort Smith to be near my doctors and hospital who are trying to extend my life. I've always been a fighter, but this is an extremely difficult battle. I have many faults, and I'm paying for them now. If you could spare a dollar or two to help me with this move to Fort Smith, it would certainly help.

I'm asking for your help to get me near my healthcare facilities. Please understand that no amount is too small to help.
