Hello. My name is Jason Cochrac. I am the band director and guitar teacher at Mater Academy Charter Middle/ High School in Hialeah Gardens, Florida.
I am starting this campaign for a very special young man and his family. His name is Richard Delgado. Richard was in my guitar class two years ago. He was a quiet, shy kid. He always sat in the back of the class with his guitar. When it came time to perform for me, he did so reluctantly, but always played well.
His brother Robert, is a senior in band and plays French Horn and piano. I have known both of these kids since I started at Mater Academy four years ago. Both Richard and Robert are good kids. The type of kids you would want to know and be friends with.
Sadly and very unexpectedly, Richard, Robert and his parents were in a serious car accident on Saturday, May 7, 2016 in Orlando while visiting the college Robert would be attending in the fall. They were rear-ended by a drunk driver while waiting at a stop light. Robert and his mother came out of the accident with only a few bumps and bruises. The father sustained a concussion from the crash. Richard, sadly, would not survive his injuries.
Richard passed away on May 7, 2016. A 15 year old kid who had his whole life in front of him, cut very short by the negligence and carelessness of another. As you can imagine, everyone is devastated by his passing and feels the utmost sympathy for the Delgado family.
The money from this campaign will be donated to the Delgado family in the memory of Richard. The money will be used to assist them with whatever expenses they have or will incur because of the loss of Richard.
The funds are needed ASAP.
The Delgado family means so much to me because I have come to know them over the past four years and they have commited themselves to the education of Robert and Richard and their participation in their activities. They are just good people.
I, along with everyone else, will be extremely grateful for any donation that is given. Words would not begin to express how thankful we would be.
