Help a family fight brain disease

Donation protected
Rich and Randy met in August 2010, fell in love and got married in March of 2013. Soon after they announced that they were expecting a baby. Before we knew it they welcomed a little boy into their family.

They went on to buy their first home and were living happily. Last year, in early 2016, Rich lost his job as a network engineer after a lengthy career. As time progressed and he struggled to find a new job, those of us close to Rich began noticing changes in his behavior.

Randy began to become increasingly concerned that he was losing his ability to do the things that once came easily to him. He could no longer do the tasks he used to on a daily basis with computers such as set up a printer, or an Internet router.

After multiple psychological, neuropsychological and neurological consultations, and a barrage of medical tests, Rich and Randy received a working diagnosis. Rich has "white matter disease", which is progressively robbing Rich of his cognitive function. It is still not a confirmed clear diagnosis yet which is increasing the uncertainly for treatment and has forced Randy and Rich to seek additional consultations.

Rich is unable to work, or provide capable care for his son. Randy went from working a couple of hours a week to full time schedule given her role as a mother.  They have been fortunate that friends and family have contributed to help them send their son to daycare recently.

Being forced to a single paycheck has put a severe strain on their finances. They are worried about Rich’s condition and prognosis. They are facing numerous health care bills, including a very expensive genetic test which will determine if Rich's condition can be treated or not.

As friends and family of Rich and Randy, we could help them in numerous ways including support with their finances, and healthcare that Rich so urgently needs. Please consider helping them.
