Rice University scholars and staff encourage you to contribute to our disaster relief effort in support of victims of the recent natural disasters affecting Mexico and Puerto Rico.
On September 7, a magnitude 8.1 (Mw) earthquake struck Chiapas, Mexico. On September 19, central Mexico was struck by a magnitude 7.1 (Mw) earthquake. The following day, on September 20, category 5 hurricane Maria made landfall in Puerto Rico.
There is a great need for aid on the ground; many are still displaced, without power, and lacking shelter. We welcome any contribution towards helping those in need recover from this crisis. All funds gathered will be equally distributed to local, high-impact NGOs and grassroots organizations.
