Nena and Kevin fled Honduras after receiving death threats by a hitman. When Nena sought protection from her government, the authorities did not want to help her, however, a non-profit, human rights organization documented her situation in the case that something were to happen to her. After putting in her complaint, there was a break-in into her home during the middle of the night. She was forced to leave everything and flee together with her grandson. They arrived to the Mexico-U.S. border on July 21, 2014, after traveling 4 months through Mexico. They currently living in a temporary shelter.
Kevin is a U.S. citizen whose mother resides in the United States. She is losing her eyesight and does not have money for travel costs to be able to reunite with her son. Nena is trying to raise money by making bracelets, necklaces, and missionary rosaries to pay for the fees of her immigration petition and for the transportation costs of her daughter, travel companian, and Kevin.

Nena y Kevin huyeron de Honduras después de recibir amenazas de un sicario. Cuando Nena buscó ayuda con las autoridades, se la negaron. Sin embargo, acudió a una organización de derechos humanos para documentar su caso para que - si algo le pasara - tendría record de la amenaza. Esta misma noche después de meter su queja, dos personas quisieron entrar a su casa. Fue obligada dejar todo y huir con su nieto a los Estados Unidos. Después de haber viajado 4 meses, llegaron a la frontera de México y los Estados Unidos el 21 de julio 2014. En este momento, están hospedados en un albergue temporal.
Kevin es estadounidense y su mamá vive en los Estados Unidos. Está perdiendo su vista y no tiene recursos para pagar los costos de su viaje para reunirse con su hijo. Nena está trabajando para recaudar fondos y hace collares, pulseras y rosarios misioneros. Quiere usar el dinero que se recauda para pagar los gastos de los trámites migratorios y el costo de transporte para su hija, un acompañante y Kevin.
