Restore The A.S. Noon Building

Donation protected

(this is our 2nd fundraiser - our first one was outdated, so we had to make a new page - our previous
fundraiser raised $860)

A little history....
The A.S. Noon Building was built in 1908 by Adolphus Samuel Noon, a Nogales
blacksmith & contractor. Just a few hundred yards from the DeConcini Port of
Entry & the Business District in Nogales, Sonora, Mexico, The Noon Building sits
proudly on Grand Ave in downtown Nogales, Arizona.

For 4 generations & 112 years, our unique, historic, building has helped to shape
the economy of downtown Nogales,  contributing growth and opportunities for
commerce,  by providing business space for local merchants all within walking
distance of the Nogales, Arizona/Mexico border.

Grocery store, auto parts, sporting goods, music store, blue printing, appliance
repair, photography services, tattoo parlor, attorneys office, shoe store, are just a
few of the many businesses that have set up shop at The Noon Building.  Upstairs, in earlier years, was used as storage for local merchants. In the mid 1940's &
50's, upstairs was used as a boarding house for local residents.

Our flatiron building, the only one in Southern Arizona, was added to the National Registry of Historic Places in 1986.

What we'd like to do.....

Our plan for The Noon Building is to restore the upstairs & update our
downstairs retail spaces. With the upstairs restorations, we will be offering
contemporary lodging & office/conference space, in a classic building with 360
degrees of stunning views, high ceilings & the latest in web link technologies.

In 2020, a mural featuring Jazz Musician Charles Mingus, was added to the
Arroyo Blvd. side of the building. We would like to continue with that theme &
feature more Ambos Nogales artists & create an art hotel.

Restoration of The Noon Building would be a wonderful compliment to our
neighbor, The Bowman Senior Center, as well as downtown Nogales. This would
be an opportunity to create something new while preserving the past.
