Restore Lauren's Eyesight

In November 2011 my six year old daughter was not feeling well. I gave her children's Advil on Tuesday, November 1st. The next day she had developed a rash on her face. By Thursday the rash covered her body. Her lips and eyes were so swollen they were ripping apart, bloody and covered in puss. This was also happening to the rest of her body inside and out. She was taken to three different hospitals before she was sent to Seattle's Harborview Trauma ICU. Only then was she diagnosed with Stevens Johnsons Syndrome(SJS) and later they discovered she had the more severe form called Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis(TEN).
Lauren spent a total of 28 days at Harborview. We almost lost her a couple of times. She spent two weeks on a ventilator and was given supportive care for her eyes, nutrition, skin, and to prevention infection. She lost 40% of her skin, and suffered severe damage to her eyes. She since has had ulcers in both of her corneas and surgeries on her eye lids.
In march Harborview Doctors removed the lining of her mouth and grafted it to the lining of her eyelids. This has helped her feel comfortable enough to partially open her eyes. However she still suffers from dryness, sensitivity to light and blurry vision.
There is hope for Lauren! The wonderful Doctors at The Boston Foundation for Sight have created a prosthetic lens that creates an ecosystem that eyes need to function. The PROSE lens has already helped so many people suffering from corneal diseases, and many with SJS/TEN. BFS ( Boston Foundation for Sight) has an annual SJS kids week. These families and children get together, go to appointments, receive sight saving treatment, and so much more. BFS Doctors said Lauren can come when she turns 8. The SJS kids week is held the last week of July annually. Lauren's 8th birthday is on July 31st 2013! What an amazing gift would it be for Lauren to be in Boston getting these lenses that week!
