To finish what we started at the beginning of 2019, 3 new classrooms by January 2020!! ***Well that was our goal, but we just didn't get it finished
The cost to finish these classrooms, with a smooth floor, windows and doors, chalkboards and supplies is about $3,500 per classroom.***We got 3 classrooms done and we are working on the second floor which will have another 2 classrooms
I am planning another trip to Kitale Kenya end of March 2020 and would love to see these classrooms finished and in use!***Obviously that was postponed!
***Our GOAL now that Covid-19 has affected our school and village due to complete shutdown is to visit each child's home and provide assistance in food and counseling. Without our school meal program most children will go hungry each day, and some come from abusive situations.
WHO WE ARE:
Koko's Village is an private community Christian school and nutritional center, for orphans and vulnerable children from preschool-grade 6. Students receive quality education and food in a small, rural village called Sitatunga, about 13 miles from Kitale, Kenya. All children in the community are welcome and community members are encouraged to help as they can with food donations and farm labor. We currently have 7 classrooms, 8 teachers, 1 cook, and one grounds keeper/gardener.
Currently there are over 110 students through grade 6, but those students will move up to grade 7 in January. We have an immediate need to build new permanent classrooms and hire a new teacher to accommodate those students.
EXTRA WAYS TO HELP:
To feed and educate a child, at Koko's, it takes only $25 per month.
To feed and educate a former Koko's Village child, in higher education, it takes only $55 per month.
To pay one teacher (we have 7) is $80 per month.
