Reopen Jayvis Benjamin's Case - #JayvisLifeMatters

#JayvisLifeMatters
The United States has a policing problem. This is no mystery. And yet, we see nothing being done about it. Such is the case for Jayvis Benjamin.

On January 18th, Jayvis Benjamin was killed by officer lynn thomas. Jayvis was unarmed. The Dekalb County District attorney did not even acknowledge the incident even happened to Jayvis’s mother, Montye Benjamin, for two years.  When Montye and her son, Steven Benjamin, would visit and ask about information pertaining to Jayvis’s case, they were told the incident was not on file. As if it did not exist. As if Jayvis Benjamin being killed did not matter.

Why #JayvisBenjaminMatters
Holding accountable those who failed to do their job correctly, is the best way to prevent it from happening, again. Jayvis experienced an untimely death. This would have never happened, if sgt. lynn thomas did his job properly.

The civil grand jury that heard the details of the incident, and strongly recommended that lynn thomas be indicted in the shooting incident involving Jayvis Benjamin. The family of Jayvis Benjamin might have received justice, if the former District Attorney of Dekalb County, robert james, did his job properly.

Though lynn thomas and robert james may want the incident that took Jayvis Benjamin’s life to go away, we will never let that happen. #JayvisBenjaminMatters!!!!

The Significance of Jayvis Benjamin’s Case
Jayvis’s case is a prime example of the failings of the Justice system in the United States. He was denied due process, by lynn thomas. He was denied dignity by the media. And every day Jayvis is being denied his humanity by the United States Justice department, since robert james tried to make his case go away.

Jayvis Benjamin's case is one of several examples of systemic injustices visible across this country. Supporting this campaign will be a step towards correcting one of this nation's biggest and simplest problems to solve. The police brutality, abuse of law enforcement, and lack of accountability are the cause of states of emergency nationwide.

The Justice Department would rather not hold criminals in uniforms accountable. Instead, it choosing to have countless continued global protests, riots that cause the destruction of private property, and an ever-growing debt to the lowest cast members of its nation: Black people.

Jayvis Benjamin was one of those Black People. Jayvis Benjamin must receive justice because the constitution says it would ensure he would. Jayvis Benjamin's case is important and must be heard. Jayvis Benjamin deserves dignity, as all human beings deserve. To make this happen, we need your help
