Ithaca College Women's Rugby
Also known as the Renegades, the Ithaca College Women’s Rugby Club, was formed in 1995. Playing at the DII level, we regularly compete against the region’s strongest teams.
At the conclusion of our Fall 2013 season, we made our first ever appearance in post season playoffs. Competing in the ACRA (American Collegiate Rugby Association) 15's National Championship. Results below:
Round of 1 (32) - University of Delaware (Won 24-12)
Round 2 (16)- Denison University (Won 35-5)
Round 3 (8)- Notre Dame College (Varsity Program) (Lost 23-22)
Being a club sport program, we receive limited allocation from our college. In order to effectively run our program, we require about $30,000 a year, and only receive around $1,200. This puts a huge financial burden on our team and players, having to pay mostly out of pocket and focus significant amounts of time and energy fundraising (in addition to practice, games, school, etc). We aren't even able to pay our coaches, who volunteer 10-15 hours a week for practice and games (not including travel time for away games). In addition to being exceptional athletes, our players have among the highest GPA's and among the lowest incidents with judicial affairs across club sports.
Our success at nationals last year, while very exciting, was very unexpected and exhausted our budget. So much so that had we advanced to the next round (final four in Florida), we wouldn't have had the means to go and compete. We are competing with schools that have varsity funding, while we are struggling and operating at a much lower, club sports budget. Please help us reach our goal and allow us to further compete in the ACRA National 15's Championships again this year. Any little bit helps!
