It is with sadness and joy that I report that Rene passed away yesterday morning about 4:15: sadness, because she is sorely missed; joy, because her pain and suffering are over. As her husband for almost 29 years, it was my privilege to care for her for the past 8 years, and to hold her in my arms as she passed from this world.
Rene became mostly incoherent on Friday, 12/27. She peacefully slept almost 100% of the time, and was able to acknowledge things only on a very rudimentary level. We celebrated Christmas Friday evening (the first opportunity that the whole family could get together), and, in spite of her condition, Rene's face lit up when she saw her granddaughter, Mila.
Rene's visitation/life celebration/banquet will be January 4th, 2014 at Faith Community Church in New Richmond, WI from 11am (visitation) and noon (celebration). 1040 Paperjack Dr., New Richmond, WI 54017
