Raising up future leaders in Haiti

My name is Christelle Chalmers and I want to thank you in advance for visiting my site and giving me the opportunity to share my heart for missions.

I've lived in Haiti seventeen years before mocing to Maryland to continue my university education.Two years into college and feeling my life lacked purpose, I decided to join the workforce instead. I was fortunate to get hired immediately by a  five million dollar company called MSI Universal that does work with the government in Washginton DC. At that time, a high paying job with a renowned company, was my definition of success.

After the Earthquake in Haiti (2010), I felt a strong prompting in my heart to move to Puerto Rico. I resisted the idea but the more I did, it seemed that the Lord made it impossible for me not to move. Little did I know that the prompting had everything to do with Haiti.

I had grown up very fortunate in Haiti, however, once I left, I never thought of going back or giving back. I had resentment  in my heart due to high level of corruption, crime and godlessness that prevailed in my country.

It was during the many outreaches to Haiti by the Puerto Rican people that I began to see the beauty and the good in my country and my heart was filled with gratitude because of the support Puerto Rico had shown towards my people.

I began to see now how God was using my time in Puerto Rico to change my heart. I needed to walk out the vision He had given me for my life. I would do this with the giftings with which He has blessed me:

Running - training and running mid to long distance races for Haiti

Catering - cooking for the love of it and as a means to fundraise.

My mission is to use these giftings to  teach others through the Truth of Scriptures that my Heavenly Father has a plan for their lives as well. I want them to understand that He will provide everything to bring about His will.
