Rebel Ministries Uganda Trip

From June 15 through June 29, 2013, a group of 9^th grade girls from Lakewood Park Christian School and several adults affiliated with Rebel Ministries out of Auburn, IN, will take a trip to Uganda to help serve mothers, babies, children, and families. When school began back in August, little did the students, teachers and adults involved in the girls' lives know they would be able to exhibit deeper ways of showing and sharing their love, stretch as Christians, and be the hands and feet of Christ to many Ugandan women and children! The incredible opportunity has arisen and will be in the form of a two week mission's trip to Uganda. During this trip, we will be reaching out and furthering the gospel to the Ugandan people while also learning more about the people and their culture.

The organization we will serve through is Kupendwa Ministries (kupendwaministries.org). This group provides a maternity home, village clinics, as well as Survive to Thrive, sponsorship, and community development programs for unwed girls and women. Amy Washington who is the founder of Kupendwa states, "Many expectant women and young girls live in rural villages where there is very little, if any, access to medical care, birthing supplies or sanitary birthing conditions. Childbirth is a frightening time for many Ugandan women, and it is during this time that many reach out for help. They are searching for peace and comfort, for hope and reassurance. We know that the only source of true peace, comfort, hope, and reassurance is in Jesus Christ. We desire to share that with each and every mother and child that God brings into our program, as we also reach out to meet physical needs by providing medical care, medical supplies, education, and empowerment." So, we are excited that God has lined our hearts up with this ministry and look forward to seeing how He is going to teach and use us as we reach out to others in need.

Within our two week stay, we will take part in teaching and tutoring the teenage mothers in the maternity home, doing VBS activities, Bible Stories, and games with village children, visiting a local hospital maternity ward, praying with mothers and their babies, encouraging them, gardening for widows or needy families in the village, teaching and tutoring children in the local schools, babysitting the maternity home little ones for teenage mothers, and so much more!

While God has opened up this door for us to develop a greater heart of compassion for His people around the world, our hope is that you will be able to share with us in this compassion. Most importantly, you can help by praying for us. Specifically, pray that God will prepare us for our visit, our work and also bless our efforts as we minister to the people of Uganda, Africa. We also need prayer that our financial needs will be met. At this time, 12 people will go on this trip. The total trip cost is $51,000 ($4,250 for each to attend). This amount includes airfare, transportation, accommodation, project fees, meals, and an investment project that will extend past our team's work there and our return back to the states. While we know this amount is quite a challenge, we believe with God, all things are possible, and He will provide!
