Medical Expenses for Becky

Donation protected
After being in remission from multiple sclerosis (MS) for 10 years, on January 29th, 2018, wife and mother Rebecca Schreckengost, age 40, suffered a sudden and severe MS attack and was admitted to the Jacksonville Mayo Clinic hospital.  The attack left Becky with double vision, no feeling on the entire left side of her body and unable to speak or stand.

At the hospital, five days of steroid treatments were not effective in decreasing Becky’s symptoms. Eventually, a treatment called plasmapheresis was ordered (a replacement of blood plasma), and this did result in some minor improvements.

On February 7, Becky was transferred to the Orange Park Rehabilitation Center where she stayed for two more weeks.

Becky is now at home.  She walks with a walker and wears a patch over one eye due to continued double vision and slurred speech.  Becky isn’t able to experience any sudden changes in temperature such as hot showers or AC. She is also unable to drive.  She goes for physical therapy three times a week.

Becky’s husband, Kevin, is a hard worker.  He works 12-hour swing shifts making it difficult to help out at home and get adequate rest.

The family does have health insurance and early on reached the $6,000 out-of-pocket coverage maximum.  This expense, along with expenses for other related needs, is a financial burden for the family.  Any donations to help out would be greatly appreciated.
