§ My journey from Butler, Pennsylvania to the Best Friends Life Saving Center in Los Angeles will comprise nearly 3,000 miles! Phew

§ My journey started on May 18, 2019 and I hope to arrive at the Best Friends Life Saving Center in Los Angeles by September 25th (give or take a few days!) Stay tuned for updates ;)
§ My "roughly" 3/4 point of my walk is Kanab, Utah where I will be spending 2 nights at the magical Best Friends Animal Sanctuary where Best Friends Animal Society is gifting me and my dog Arnie two nights of accommodations! My blistered feet say "THANK YOU"!
My Story/why the heck am I doing this??
After having ACL total knee reconstruction on February 8, 2019, I was in recovery while snuggling with my advisor Arnie (see photos of my fur ball) when I had this crazy recurring thought; It went something like this ---"the moment I can walk again, I want to do something meaningful, something amazing!" I’m old school, and so the idea formed that what I wanted to do more than anything was walk across middle America, connect with everyone and anyone along the way, and raise money for pets in need with every mile I hoof! Well, with little to no preparation the idea turned from a laugh with friends to a full blown adventure within a week.
What about my knee?? Don’t worry, my dog Arnie is watching my back (and knee!) and supporting my journey. I hope you all can find the courage to do the same!
I have a huge soft spot for animals. I didn’t choose my fur babies, they chose me! Arnie stayed with me after my divorce and Petie passed away two Christmas’s ago (He was sweet, smart, my child, and a great traveler). When they hurt I hurt.
Although I recently had a knee surgery, I am determined to make this nearly 3,000 mile trek and raise money for this important charity . As an entrepreneur, having started the woman-owned and operated BBQ sauce company Hickey Bottom Barbecue Company, named after a quiet road in western Pennsylvania, this journey will be a “cake walk” in comparison (I HOPE).
