The Real Cat Ladies of Long Beach Cat/Kitten Rescue Project

Friends of ours and friends of felines, we need your help. What started out as an attempt to rescue a momma cat and her litter of kittens from an industrial warehouse yard has turned into the rescue of four litters of kittens and a large feral adult cat colony. Oh, the drama.

Our goal is to trap, spay/neuter and release (TNR) all of the feral cats, find great loving homes for all of the foster kittens and maintain the feral colony.

All of the kittens are being flea treated (Revolution), dewormed, FIV/FeLV tested, spayed/neutered, FVRCP vaccinated and microchipped before adoption.

We have currently trapped, sterilized and returned 24 adult feral cats. We have been fostering 17 kittens (yes, it's totally bonkers) and we have even caught, neutered, vetted and adopted out one very glamorous Persian cat we called "Merlin". We aren't sure how Merlin ended up in the mix but he was happy to be rescured and he now has a wonderful loving home.

The cast of characters includes (but is not limited to) an adorable kitten named "Jasper" (see photo) who has a badly broken leg.  Sweet little Jasper was sleeping under a pile of landscape debris when a tractor operator unknowingly went to scoop up the debris. Jasper's leg break is a complex break, he has seen multiple specialists and has been fitted with a temporary cast. Little Jasper will require surgery to repair his broken leg and the doctors are cautiously optimisitic about his recovery. There is also little lovely Luna who was noticed to have labored breathing. After a thorough vet exam and x-rays it was discovered that Luna had a diaphragmic hernia which required immediate surgery. Surgery on such a small vulnerable kitten was risky but without surgery she was going to suffer and die. Unfortunately, little sweet Luna did not survive, the congenital defect was too severe and she died during surgery. Our hearts were broken but we know we had to give her a chance.

We have more ferals to catch and alter, more vet bills to come and lots of mouths to feed (foster kittens and the entire feral colony). Your help is especially needed to help us reach our goal and help reduce animal suffering. All of the proceeds will to directly to the cats and kittens.

Thank you for helping us make a difference in the lives of these cats and kittens.
