Ready, set, MIDWIFE!

For 4 years I have worked tirelessly to be a midwife.  I have studied until my brain hurt. I have crammed more information into my head than I thought was humanly possible. I have stayed awake for (literally) days at a time in order to support laboring parents and to care for new parents in the making. I have shed tears as a new life falls gently into my hands, the first hands to touch these newborns coming into this world. I have held my breath waiting to hear that first cry.  I have advocated, loudly, for the rights and needs of those who are often forgotten and go unheard. 

I am so clear in my goals and dreams: To be a midwife. To care for the reproductive rights and family planning needs of those who seek my care.  To help couples and individuals create families from scratch.  To be a fearless human rights advocate and social justice leader. And I have brought myself most of the way on my own. But now I need some help from you.

I need to become licensed and take boards in order to gain employment as a midwife. It is going to cost me $1500 and a couple of months of steadfast job searching and focused studying to reach that goal. In order to most effectively study and pass my boards, I need to continue to stay well-nourished with whole foods and good rest. I cannot do that when I am scrounging for the last pennies I have. Here is where YOU come in.

I am asking for pledges to help me reach my goal of paying for boards and some living expenses to carry me over until I reach the goal of being employed as a midwife. I would be forever grateful for whatever you can donate. Every dollar counts!
