Ray was diagnosed with stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer on March 27th, 2017 (on his 51st birthday) He was the father to 17 year old Ray Bates IV, husband to Anita Bates, son, brother, and a dear friend to many. Ray had been taking chemotherapy and radiation for several months to try and stop the spreading of this aggressive cancer, however, with a heavy heart we regret to inform all that on Thursday June 29th at 7:10 am Ray lost his battle to this beast of a disease.
During these past few months the diagnosis of Rays health has caused severe financial hardship to this couple. There was no time for a life insurance policy to be put into place, therefore, his surviving spouse is now left to try and recover from this unimaginable situation including expenses.
The past few months have included hospital stays, chemotherapy, radiation, prescriptions, restrictive/specific diet plans, and doctor visits. Additionally, there are attorney costs, loss of wages for both Ray and Anita and ongoing medical expenses.
We are asking for donations for Anita (surviving spouse) to help her during this very difficult time as she begins her journey to get out from this emotional/financial burden.
Anita wants all to know how blessed she feels to have met her beloved husband. They shared many special moments together. She misses her sweetheart dearly and hopes that no one ever has to experience this in their lifetime. The memories they made will last her forever.
