Mike Ray was diagnosed in 2011 with Pseudomyxoma peritonei (PMP), a condition caused by cancerous cells (mucinous adenocarcinoma). After 5 1/2 years of Mike working full time and undergoing chemotherapy, his condition worsened last May. Mike and his wife, Diane, traveled to Indianapolis from their home in Florida in September to be treated by a specialist at IU Hospital. Mike underwent a miraculous 14 hour surgery in mid November that he is still recovering from.
Mike's recovery is lasting longer than expected due to several set-backs. He was moved from rehab back to ICU last week. Mike has an incredible will to live and his dream is to go back to his home and immediate family in Florida.
