Raul's Kidney Transplant Fund

My name is Sarita Smith and my family and I are raising money for Raul and Brenda Madera. My father, Raul, was diagnosed with a rare kidney disease that attacks both kidneys. 

In mid-2017, Raul was told that he was in need of a kidney and was put on the transplant list with a wait time of 5-7 years. With God's grace, Brenda Madera, Raul's wife, was a perfect match to give Raul a kidney. While waiting on a surgery date, Raul began dialysis on November, 6, 2017 and was forced to work part-time because he is unable to work on days he receives treatment. On January 19, 2018, they will both undergo surgery at Piedmont Hospital. 

Brenda will be in the hospital for about three days and will be out of work for 5 to 6 weeks while she is recovering at home. Raul will be in the hospital for at least a week and will be out of work for the next 8 to 10 weeks.

Raul and Brenda have a 2 year old son named Matias, who is very loving and energetic. While both of his parents are recovering, he will be staying with family. Since Raul and Brenda will be out of work for months, they will be taking a hard financial hit. Raul's medication is expensive. Any donations will be extremely helpful and will go towards paying for doctor bills, medications, household bills, and taking care of their precious little boy. 

We ask that you please keep Raul and Brenda in your thoughts and prayers as they have a long road to recovery and that Raul's body accepts his new kidney.
