RANGOLI: A Queer Desi and Allied Diwali Family Celebration!
11am-2pm PST/2pm-5pm EST, Sunday, November 8, 2020 on Zoom
A Cultural Program hosted by:
QDASA (Queer Desis & Allies Seattle Area)
KhushATX (South Asian LGBTQ Organization in Austin, TX )
DRPA (Desi Rainbow Parents & Allies)
IAWW (India Association of Western Washington)
And Fundraiser!
Fundraiser will benefit QDASA, KhushATX, and provide honorariums to our talented Queer and Allied artists and presenters.
EVENT DESCRIPTION:
Rangoli is a program to show our Queer Youth, Mainstream community, and Queer Desi Community the fabulous talent and vibrance of the Queer Desi Community and its Allies - and to show that we exist across the continent! In our Queer Desi community we often do not find enough sufficiently visible role models and beacon's of hope and vitality. Often Diwali can be a time in which Queer people feel left out especially if family is not understanding of the person's orientation or gender expression, or not welcoming of a partner or significant other. But never fear! Rangoli is here!!! And you are not alone!!! We are here to all celebrate together on zoom! :)
In this program, the majority of our cast identifies as Queer and we are also presenting amazing Allies with ties to the Queer Community. Rangoli will showcase several highly-accomplished and professionally-trained both Queer and Allied artists & leaders who are spread across North America. We are showing the Queer Desi community that you are not alone!! We are celebrating Queer identity, unity, and integration with the mainstream with our Queer Desis & Allies of all ages! And we intend to make this an annual celebration!
FOR TICKETS:
Zoom links to the event will be a minimum $15 donation. Any donation at or above $15 will receive a zoom link in our Thank You reply in response to your donation 1 day prior to the event. Please check your email for notification that we have replied with the zoom link 1 day before the event. If you have any questions, please click the Contact button on the fundraiser main page under Organizer. You will be able to email us directly with any questions. Please note tickets are non-refundable and we are not responsible for any technical issues in using the link or using the zoom platform.
Please note, we want to make this celebration accessible to everyone. Should need be, message us using the Contact button on the fundraiser main page under Organizer and state "Ticket Waiver Request" and we will make sure you can attend our celebration! :)
TO BE AN EVENT SPONSOR:
We encourage mainstream Desi Organizations and Businesses around North America to donate to our cause and be featured on our ads as Ally Organization Sponsors. We need visible expressions of support from our mainstream Desi organizations to show our Queer Community that we all belong, and we all celebrate together! Ally Sponsorship is a minimum of $100 ( suggested $200). While donating, please state in the comment section "Event Sponsorship". After completing the donation, please click the Contact button on the fundraiser main page under Organizer and please give the name of your organization and email. We will get in touch with you regarding next steps.
FUNDRAISING DETAILS
To be able to organize, facilitate, and bring you such fantastic performances & workshops and community support & awareness events, we need your financial support. Please note QDASA and KhushATX are not yet 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations, therefore, any donation you make will not be tax exempt eligible. The funds collected will be distributed in the following way: 30% distributed equally amongst performers and presenters and 70% distributed equally amongst QDASA and KhushATX.
