Randol Home- Fire Recovery Fund

As many of you know, the Nuns and Tubbs Fires in Northern California have wiped out the better half of Santa Rosa, CA and much of the surrounding areas. In the early morning hours of October 9th, these fires raged through our neighborhood, tearing memories from our hands and burning everything to the ground.
For the last three decades, the house on Sweetgum St has been the family home to my parents and their three daughters. We were raised here. We grew up with this neighborhood, celebrated birthdays in the park, played and went to school with the children who lived here.
My parents lost all of their possessions. Years of priceless family photo’s, instruments and countless family heirlooms.
While we ache for all who have suffered such incredible losses at the hands of this devastating natural disaster, we humbly ask anyone who is able to assist us in establishing a fund for my wonderful parents to help them as they are doing for the community now.
All funds and proceeds are being raised to help them rebuild their lives and their home here in Sonoma County.

There will never be another like Sweetgum St. For decades, this whimsical Roald Dahl dwelling stood out on our block, relentlessly charming the neighborhood with its one-of-a-kind complexion. With unabashed tolerance, this house carried the infinite weight of each individual heart that took to its shelter. The place I was born and raised; The place I kissed my grandmother goodbye; The place which held safe an heirloom piano for my fledgling fingers; The place where first I straggled behind a wiser older sister, then proudly performed the reverse upon a new baby sister; The place where the only notable rules were to be kind, do your best, and know how to cook for yourself; The sweetgum trees; That one obnoxious mocking bird my father threatened with a slingshot; My mother's evolving vegetable garden; My father's pragmatic yet bohemian constructions; The clawfoot tub; The attic where we three girls shared one walkman and imagined we were grown ups; The christmas parties and Narada Christmas Collection Volume 2; The Bay Window; The bunk beds; The layers of paint on the walls, congruent with both our growing pains and my mother's compassion for human expression; My mother's hand-made wedding dress; My father's horns; My mother's clarinet. My parents spent a lifetime tinkering this house into the perfect Randol dwelling. This house will live forever.
All proceeds will be directly deposited into the Randol Family Rebuild Account at Redwood Credit Union.
