A Plea for Help
My name is Julie and I am asking for your help. I am a proud person. I have dealt with my share of tough times, and asking for help doesn’t come easily for me. But I recently received horrific news that I’m not sure I could survive:   the love of my life has been diagnosed with cancer.

On top of the daily struggle that comes with fighting this horrible disease, Lorenzo (Larry) is now burdened with tens of thousands of dollars in hospital bills. My love is the kind of man who works tirelessly to care for his family and to help those in need -- without recognition and without complaint. Self-employed and unable to afford health insurance, Lorenzo (Larry) now needs your help.

Please read his story below.  Please consider sending a donation. Please help ensure that Lorenzo (Larry) continues to get the care that he needs in order to be with us for a long time.

Lorenzo’s (Larry’s) Cancer Story
We found out on Jan 31st that Lorenzo (Lawrence “Larry” Pallozzi) has bladder cancer. The doctors urged him to undergo surgery as soon as possible, not knowing how long the mass has existed, and with a strong history of cancer in his family (his mom, brother, and cousin). So we scheduled him immediately and he had the surgery within a week. After struggling with some post-surgery complications, Lorenzo is slowly getting back to normal, feeling better each day and able to get back to work as a self-employed contractor.

Results from the surgery came back pretty good -- it appears to have been a low-grade cancer (so far), but will need close and regular monitoring for the foreseeable future.  The cost just to see the doctor is $150 each time he walks in the door, not including the cost of lab work, tests, or medications. We are still waiting for the final bill for the surgery and treatment he's received so far, but have been assured by the hospital that it will total in the tens of thousands.

Lorenzo (Larry) is a Gift to Many
You may know Lorenzo (Larry) as a loyal friend, a dependable co-worker, or a hardworking and talented general contractor. Or, you may simply know him as the man who captured Julie’s heart. (He is my Prince! The kind of man I thought only existed in dreams.)

For those who don’t know him well, here’s just a taste of the love he brings to our world:

Lorenzo (Larry) is a man of quiet strength and warmth -- always providing for his family and helping those in need. This man has worked his whole life without complaint. He has supported his community as a youth coach for softball, basketball, and baseball. He worked two jobs when his children (Christina, Larry, and Michael) were growing up. He was proudly able to send Christina to Cheverus, to provide her with a strong education and a positive path.

He spends the majority of his free time with his autistic son, Michael, who is now 26. He drives an hour a day to spend time with Michael, visiting him for 4 to 5 hours at the end of each work day. He does this every day of the week -- with a smile on his face and love in his heart -- because supporting and protecting his son is the only option imaginable to him.

His four-year-old grandson, Chase, adores and looks up to his “Papa”. This man needs to be around for many more years to help Chase grow into a warm, kind, unselfish and loving young man -- just like his “Papa”.

He is a 62-year-old treasure who we need to see grow old, like his 90-year-old father (who also depends on Lorenzo for his care and well-being).

PLEASE NOTE: I’m trying to keep Lorenzo's (Larry's)  father protected from the news of his illness. If you know Tony, please do not tell him. Thank you.

My dear friends, family, neighbors, and community -- I’m ready to fight to keep this wonderful, important man in our lives, but I am also scared.

- I fear this horrible illness that attacks without notice and can ruin lives within days.

- I fear that coming home to the stress of a mailbox full of medical bills is a burden he will not be able to bear.

- I fear that the heavy cost of care will prevent Lorenzo (Larry) from getting the services he needs to stay strong and able to fight cancer.

How You Can Help
Please donate -- any amount will help.
Please spread the word -- share with your friends and family.

All donated funds will be used to pay medical bills. I will post updates and adjust our goal as more information comes in.

With much love and gratitude for anything you can do to help this perfect human being,
Julie
