Americana Music History Live!
The Siglin Music Preservation Fund (SMPF) was created to raise the funds to complete and support the Ark Legacy Project Click on the link to see and hear the results of our Pilot Project.
I am passionate about the Ark Legacy Project because the mission is to make historic tapes of live performances at The Ark in Ann Arbor, MI available to all who are interested in the roots and growth of Americana Music. All music enthusiasts will love the collection!
The tapes were recorded from the sound boards at each of the 3 Ark locations between 1969 and 1996 with the skill of Dave Siglin, Ark Director from 1969 to 2008. Each artist gave permission prior to any recording. There are over 3000 hours of live performances in all!!!
The Ark Legacy Project was created to digitize these (some delicate) priceless reel to reel and cassette tapes. The project is being lead by Dave Siglin and professionals with the needed skills. The website started during the Pilot Project and has preliminary uploads of access to not only the music, but interviews, documents like fliers and articles and many, many photographs made by professional photographers and fans.
All who have been involved in the early development are SO excited!
Thank you so much for your interest and for donations of any amount!
