My name Daisha Padilla. This is my brother, Ricardo. He is 17 years old. A son, brother, nephew, uncle, and friend to many. His high school graduation is set for June 1st, the day before his 18th birthday.
On Monday, April 18th, Ricky was in an accident which caused a tramatic head injury. In his journey to fight for his life, my brother has gone through two major brain surgeries and was placed in a medically induse coma. Ricky is now healing in the right direction. The doctors informed my family, the chances of Ricky making a full recovery is less than one percent. But my family will not lose hope! With all the faith and prayer from family and friends, has brought Ricky this far, we refuse to give up!
Ricky is the youngest of three, with two older sisters, Anyisha, 26, and myself, 21. He is a wonderful uncle to his nephew Yariel, 8, and his niece Yaleena, eight months. Ricky has dedicated so much of himself to his family, friends, and community. Ricky is currently employed at Publix. He absolutely loves his job! He would come home and express all the wonderful things he enjoyed, from helping costumers to their cars, or signing to a deaf man just to brighten up his day.
Ricky wasn't only just a caring employee. He was also very athletic. He played baseball since he was five. He also played football for two years in high school, and tried out for the waterpolo team. Whatever Ricky wants to do, he sets his mind to do it, and tries to reach for the top and above.
Once our father placed a guitar in Ricky's hands his true passion was awaken; Music. As he was growing up, so was his creativity. His interests expanded to playing the drums, singing, writing lyrics and music, arrangment and composing. Ricky participates in a band, the chorus department, guitar class "Duskanators" and a grand school production, Night on Broadway. Unfortunetly, his accident occurred three days before opening night.
Ricky is such a great person inside and out. His love and passion is a powerful feeling. Slowly but surely my brother WILL recover and WILL have to attend tons of therapy. The raised money will be used for his therapy, hospital bills, and all of his medication needed. With your help, Ricky will make it back on the right track to becoming a rock star!
