Faith, Love, Hope... and Birthday Wishes!
Rafael Silva, my oldest brother, was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer just a few days before his birthday. We were all devastated by this news. My family and I chose to lean on FAITH and HOPE, instead of sadness, to permeate the mood on his birthday. My brother's love of Mariachi music filled our hearts with joy while our eyes filled up with tears when the Mariachi played the song, "Un dia a la vez" translated as "One day at a time." I love my brother and I know in my heart that there are many more chapters yet to be written in his life... That is my wish for him! 
Rafael is a loving husband to my "comadre" Armida and they have raised five amazing children: Isabel, Ana Rosa, Angie, Rafael Jr., and Jasmin. He is also a proud grandpa to Brandon and Brianna. Rafael has currently taken leave from work at GGUSD where he has dedicated 35 years working as a night custodian. He is hoping to begin a comprehensive treatment at a clinic that will combine chemotherapy with alternative methods such as immunotherapy. The cost for this treatment is $33,400. We are hopeful that we will be able to raise enough funds so that my brother can begin the treatment as soon as possible. My brother is a fighter and we will be joining him in this fight against cancer.
