Today, the World Day of Multiple Sclerosis, in Venezuela, patients suffering from this chronic and degenerative disease live in constant anguish due to the lack of medication for the treatment of Multiple Sclerosis. The cost of Avonex medication (Interferon Beta 1a) is 600 USD per week.
We have more than 3 years without medicines so our day to day is very hard the disease advances quickly or slowly and we are losing movement capacity, loss of sight, facial paralysis, muscle aches and numbness of the extremities, etc. We are 3 thousand patients who urgently need humanitarian assistance

Hi, my name is Rafael Adrian Herrera, and I am Venezuelan, resident in Caracas, and I have Multiple Sclerosis.
MS is a disease in which the immune system attacks the nervous system. It's progress a progressive, incurable and a neurological disorder or by its nickname “The Invisible Disease.”
Due to the humanitarian crisis that we experience in my country (Venezuela), it has been challenging to acquire the medicines to my treatment, basically there is no way to find them here. I have almost 4 year not taking any of them, to the point that I am not able for moments to coordinate movements, maintaining balance, alterations of sleep plus the constant pain.
The medication that I need for only one year would will cost me approx. $30.000 (Thirty thousand dollars), and I need to buy it in another country like USA or Europe increasing the costs extremely. Also, is difficult to get employment due to my health condition, adding the extreme crisis that we are undergoing in Venezuela.
Part of my treatments are:
Weekly injection of interferon Beta 1A (Known as AVONEX)
Lyrica
Xolpidex
Zaldiar
Also, is required to have a minimum of two MRI’s per year.
Unfortunately, this unhealthy outlook has forced me to ask for help from people of good will and potential donors, who can provide me with funds to buy my medications.
