Rachels fundraising for making every day special

To hear the words 'your child has cancer' are words that no parent should ever have to hear, but, In May 2019, that's exactly what we were told. At the tender age of 16 years old, Rachel was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a cancer located in her chest wall. She has had a tough 9 months and during this time, the first cycle of MAP chemotherapy failed, the cancer actually grew. 2nd line treatment was expected to have no success, however, it did stabilise the disease for a short while.  Meanwhile, scans were sent to Birmingham to plan surgery, but due to the size and location, we were told that surgery wasn't an option.  After requesting a second opinion, and to our relief, a surgeon in London said he was confident that he could take out the tumour. Surgery took place on the 8th of January 2020. After a gruelling 12 hours, we were told that the tumour was out with clear margins, but we couldn't celebrate. A scan, the day before the surgery, indicated there were suspicious nodules in Rachel's lungs. After a further 3 week wait, and, as Rachel was smashing her recovery, we were told that the cancer was in her lungs.  Devestated is not the word, this amazing, inspirational young girl is not catching a break.  Last week, we were informed that the cancer is not curable, and although there are a few things to try in an attempt to stabilise her disease, the prognosis isn't great. Rachel is not one to sit around and feel sorry for herself, she has enrolled on a makeup course, and she is wanting to do some travelling while she is well. As we are all aware everything has a cost and many people have asked how they can help, so as a family, we have decided to ask for donations which will help Rachel to make the best of the time she has.
