SC3 Gera Baja

What the Funds Will Do:

Self funded privateer pro motorcycle racer and 2016 Baja 1000 Pro Moto Ironman Champion Tony Gera's dream is to ride a motorcycle from his home in Northern California, pre-run on the same motorcycle, race it in the Baja 1000, and ride it home. If the funding goal is met by late September 2019, it will enable Tony to race the custom SC3 Gera Baja motorcycle in the Pro Ironman Class of the 2019 Baja 1000. Pro Moto Ironman class riders ride one motorcycle all by themselves for the entire almost 24 hour race ~ 1000 mile race.

Who We Are:

Tony Gera

Our Story:

Tony Gera and Jim Carducci were introduced by Michael Accorsi of Accorsi Studios . Mike had envisioned filming Tony as he rode the previous iteration of the Harley dual sport bike that Jim designed and built. When Tony and his dad George Gera saw the motorcycle, Jim and Mike had to tear them away from looking at all the custom designed and fabricated details of the bike.

Tony told Jim about his dream to ride a bike from his Northern California house down to Baja, pre-run on the bike, race the Pro Moto Ironman class on the bike, and then ride the bike back home. He said he could do it on Jim's custom bike. What followed were many discussions on how to customize the motorcycle to make it Baja race ready. Jim designed and installed new parts, loaned his prototype bike to Tony to test, and then continued making the modifications needed to successfully race.

10" of travel front and rear, a '100 mph' race light, 1275 cc motor with increased horsepower and torque, reduced weight by 25 lbs, and  a 5 gallon tank are some of the specs of this custom bike. See the Carducci Dual Sport motorcycle website using the link below for more details.

The photo above shows Jim on his version of the bike in the Nevada desert in May 2019. Jim initially designed a dual sport Harley because he loves the Sportster motor, and he loves to dual sport ride in the deserts of California and Nevada. Jim designed over 50% of the parts on the bike and had them fabricated from premium materials. The swing arm photo below shows some of Jim's attention to detail in this form follows function design. The motorcycle now weighs much less than the original H-D Sportster from which it began.

Why this GoFundMe?

Many more parts and back-up parts are needed for the race. We have already self-funded most of the motorcycle modifications. There are many more costs involved at the race, starting with the race entry fees.  Our budget for the race:
